I started this blog in March, 2011, when I was feeling stuck in my office job and had decided to learn Reiki (energy healing), potentially as a new career pursuit.
In June 2011, I attended the inaugural World Domination Summit, a gathering of unconventional thinkers and do-it-yourself’ers, particularly in the realms of business, art, and travel. I’d always wanted to travel, but I just didn’t get how people made enough money and had enough time. At the WDS conference, I figured out it is very simple (if not easy): you make it a priority. Within two weeks, I was planning my first international travel – a RTW trip, to begin in February, 2013.
In November, 2011, I met a man that changed my plans. For a few months, I still thought I was going to take my trip, and then I realized I didn’t want to be apart from him for that long and I called it off, which I’ve never regretted.
In July, 2012, the potential for travel (AND an escape from my office job!) entered my life in the form of a location-independent position with a tech company in the hospitality industry.
From 2012 to 2016, I traveled to many new destinations on vacation with that man.
In 2017, I took my first solo (post-relationship) international trip to Barcelona. On that same trip, I flew to Florence, Italy, for one night to see Radiohead. That was the most adventurous travel I’ve done and was surely worthy of writing about, but I wasn’t yet inspired to revive this blog.
In 2018, I embarked on my biggest international travel yet and shared about it in this space — daily! It took quite the investment of time, and I am so pleased to have a journal to reflect upon.
In 2019, I am planning on and hoping for a repeat performance of last year.
