Reiki I class booked!

This morning, I called two of the three references Michelle provided.  Both had nothing but glowing praise for her, and they both said one thing in common: that she remains available to her students forever, for any purpose, which I’d already gotten from her myself – she was very generous with her time when I received my first session with her.

I particularly enjoyed talking to one of the former students because she is doing exactly what I want to do.  She took all three degrees of Reiki attunements with Michelle, and she is embarking on her own Reiki practice.  She just met with business attorneys this week.  How exciting for her!  I asked if I could hold on to her number in case I have questions as I follow in her footsteps, and she was completely open to that.  Michelle later said she’d provided this particular reference because we’re both analytical… we’re both “thinkers”.

Later in the day, I called Michelle herself and we talked about lineage.  Her perspective is that it doesn’t mean a thing.  If it did, that would imply that Reiki received from one practitioner is better than that from another, which goes against Reiki itself.

Michelle has a no-rules approach to Reiki.  Rules indicate dogma, and there is no dogma attached to Reiki.  It is not a religion.  When I mentioned that I’d read in multiple places that Reiki I and Reiki II attunements are often received six months apart, she dismissed that as a rule.  I greatly appreciated her perspective and the passionate way in which she shared it.

We talked about her upcoming classes, and I reserved a spot in the Reiki I class that takes place over May 15 and 22.  The first half of the class is my birthday weekend!  Being awakened to Reiki energy will be my gift from the universe  🙂
